Founder and Creative Director
Britton ‘Lou’ Friedman
Lou Friedman is a creative leader with a career rooted in design, film, animation, and storytelling. He studied graphic design and film at NC State University, and has spent decades working at the intersection of marketing, technology, and user experience.
His early career included work website design and sound design for nationally recognized PBS properties including This Old House, Antiques Roadshow, and The American Experience. After relocating to the West Coast in 2002, Lou founded his first creative company, Plutonomy Studios, delivering print ads, website design, and animation services to a wide range of clients.
In 2007, Lou became Creative Director at Swift Newspapers, where he led product strategy across the company’s twenty-plus digital properties. Since 2013, his work has focused on improving small business websites, implementing successful e-commerce solutions, and creating custom applications for companies and startups, all supported by deep experience in UX and human behavior.
Today, Lou leads BL Friedman Creative, specializing in web design and development, branding, video, marketing, animation, AI-driven creative workflows, and time-honored storytelling. His work combines decades of practical experience with an artist’s eye and a strategic, user-focused approach.
Outside of his professional work, Lou is an abstract acrylic artist, photographer, snowboarder, and outdoor enthusiast. He has served on the board of a local nonprofit and enjoys life with his family, including two kids and an ever-energetic puppy.
